rockhound widow Jan 30, 2010
By M. Stopani This works as a cane and a shovel. It's pretty handy, and more importantly, my husband couldn't figure out what it was when he opened it on Christmas. He thought it was something to pick up dog flops, which it probably could be used for that too.

exceptional tool for rock/fossil and nature collectors Nov 03, 2008

I got one of these maybe 20 years ago as a present as I have been known to look for rocks, fossils, artifacts, and other similar objects for my collections.
This tool is great! Another excellent Estwing design. Lightweight. Strong. Makes a great walking cane and the scoop is steadier than not having it. Works very well for moving and picking up stones from water or other situations.
MINIMIZES the need to stoop over (unless your eyesight is not so good).
I hope they never stop making these.

So Nice I bought it Twice Jul 08, 2011

I purchased one of these for myself, and a second one for my father. I had some concern that it might be too heavy and clunky to haul around, but it turned out to be surprisingly light. I carry mine when out relic hunting. It is great for poking and prodding at things, and surprisingly effective for shooing pesky children back to their parents, or pesky dogs back to their owners. Every curmudgeon should have one of these. Great tool.
