Not worth it Jan 31, 2010 It's cheaply made (the cylinder is plastic), the motor makes a lot of noise (I can hear it two floors away), and it leaks. Not nearly worth the price.

Excellent if your expectations are sensible Jan 07, 2010 The negative reviews tell more about the people who wrote them than the product. There are a dozen or more rock tumbling sites on the web that will tell you everything you need to know about the hobby. This page is a good start: [...]. It only takes a few minutes to get a pretty clear idea of what rock tumbling entails. Yes, a rock tumbler is noisy, what did you think a cup of rotating rocks was going to sound like? Is it really surprising that it takes a long time for rocks to wear down? Yes, if you don't follow the directions carefully, clean the barrel and gasket, and put vaseline on the seal, the barrel can leak. There are also plenty of replacement grits available on line, even here on Amazon.
If used as directed, and with a modicum of common sense, this can be a great toy for kids to use. For under $[...] it a fine starter kit. We've had a wonderful time with it and recommend it highly.
NOT worth the Money Nov 17, 2009 This is not worth the money Because the Barrel is plastic and the rocks and grit will sand there way through the barrel and then you are done the machine is finished. Buy a machine with a rubber barrel it will be more Quiet and more durable this is not a fast process you will not polish rocks in 1 day or something try a month of tumbling buy a Lortone it is worth the $ and you will love the results. If you don't believe me phone any rock shop and ask them what to buy!

Very Unhappy! Sep 01, 2009 This product was bought for my eight year old granddaughter who was very interested in geology and so excited to receive this. After reading all the instruction we set up the tumbler, it ran for two days and quit! The hassle to send the product back has not been worth it, but does confirm my attitude not to order items through the mail again.

Short lived but it works Aug 26, 2009 This was my first rock tumble and its worth the price. I threw mine away after 3 rock groups due to bad leaking. The major down side to this product is that you can't find same company refills through the internet. I do recommend using a different tumblers polish though. The polish that comes with the set takes a long time and doesnt work as well as other polish powders. It held up well for a cheap plastic tumbler, I might buy another but use different polish.
