Wonderful beginning collection! Nov 15, 2008
By K. K. Barre
"Quot libros, quam breve tempus."
I purchased this set for use in our homeschool earth-science studies. With no other reviews to go on I was a bit hesitant, but this collection turned out to be wonderful!
The samples are large and substantial (with the exception of the two micas, which by thier very nature are quite thin and fragile), the box has individual sections for each rock or mineral, and the packaging is attractive and sturdy. The accompanying study guide is informative and detailed, including discussions of all four types included -- rock-forming minerals (basically, minerals that are found in nature as rocks), igneous rocks, metamorphic rocks and sedimentary rocks--as well as specifics about each sample.
The Rocks and Rock Forming Mineral Collection would be a great addition to any earth-science study, as well as a fun "basic set" for the beginning hobbyist.

Great Collection! Jan 06, 2009

This is a wonderful collection of rocks and minerals. Each rock or mineral is a good size for viewing and handling. The information booklet and sheet are written well and can be learned from easily. This is a great addition to our homeschool curriculum.

Great educational toy Dec 23, 2009
By P.Can

My daughter loves rocks and this educational collection, is great. It has a pretty sturdy red box, and inside divisions for every rock, which are labeled and later explained in a booklet. If your kid loves rocks, they'll love to learn with this kit.
Very pleased May 07, 2012
By Kaeza The expected delivery date was for May 8 but to my surprise, it arrived on May 5, so I was very, very pleased. My daughter needed it to study minerals and rocks for her Science Day so we were able to get started sooner than expected. The rocks and minerals came in a box with individual compartments. The rocks/minerals were good sizes for her to study, it filled the compartment as pictured. It also came with a description of each rock/mineral as a guide. I'm very happy with the product and would highly recommend it.
