Rock Hammer Leather Sheath for Pointed Tip Rock Hammer/Rock Pick

Read all below!!!! Leather snap case for the Estwing 22 oz, 13 oz, and 14 oz Rock Picks. Sized to fit the Estwing pointed tip rock hammers but may fit other rock hammers. We recommend the Estwing Hammerlock Pick Holster for use with rock hammers. It's cheaper and far easier to use than these sheaths. If you want a usable sheath check out the the Gfeller Casemakers sheaths. 2Great for storage, difficult to use in the field  Dec 10, 2008
By Owens Valley Rockhound "Owens Valley Rockhound"
When new this sheath is only very difficult to use in the field. I find it hard to line up the handle with the hole then tilt the tip in, then rotate the rock hammer into the sheath and finally, with one hand snap the snaps closed. After the sheath has been used awhile and after you get used to using them they're only OK. My recommendation..... use the Rock Hammer Holster for Pointed Tip or Chisel Edge Estwing Hammerlock Pick Holster (HH2). It's cheaper and it's easy to get the rock hammer in and out of when you're in the field, and it keeps your rock hammer on your hip where you want it. Of course, for sellers it's better for you to use this sheath. You'll get so frustrated using it that you eventually just carry the rock hammer.... until you lay it down and walk away. An all to common story I hear. Still a good accessory to have to store your rock hammer.

3Leather Sheath  Jun 13, 2007
By Rory S. Obrien "Captain Oh Wow"
THe sheath is okay but it has 2 snaps. once the 1st snap is on the other is quite difficult to click on either the snap is out of alignment or the snap is just DANG hard to press...not sure...I can live with it.

1Terrible Durability  Nov 06, 2009
By Sandra Williams
I have one of these holsters for my Estwing Rock Hammer. When I and some others went to field camp, most of us had holsters like this one attached to our belts so we could draw them out frequently for gathering samples, making fresh rock surfaces, or use in climbing. Everybody's holster, the same make and model as this one, broke except for mine. Mine was warped so badly as to be nearly unuseable. The snaps on this holster are also badly placed, since when you try to unsnap them, they simply lift the hammer upwards without coming undone. By the end of the trip, I had to rip the holster open with both hands, or just leave it open and hope I didnt lose my hammer in the process. Dont buy an all enclosing hammer holster like this one, its very difficult to hurt yourself on a hammer sitting tightly to your waist.

2Difficult to deal with...  Feb 10, 2010
By Abby Ford
This sheath is rather difficult to deal with. I have had it for a while now and am still trying to get it broken in good. It's difficult to get the pick into and then it takes a good bit of work to get it snapped. I wondered for about a month if I hadn't gotten the wrong product because it just seemed that my pick was too big, but apparently it is the right sheath. I like the way it looks but for almost daily use it's just about too impractical to deal with.

4Works Well  Apr 28, 2008

This works well for my pointed Estwing pick. The snaps close without a problem for me. Cheap and functional.
