cheap and doing OK Sep 29, 2010
By akabc47 I have used this rock hammer on my field trip last weekend. It worked OK. It's better than nothing, but the sharp end got curled soon after I tried to dig some brachipods from limestone. It is not hard enough. However, considering the cheap price, it's still OK. But you shouldn't expect more.

Rock Hammer OK Dec 04, 2009

Moderately soft face good for breaking off chunks though I had to sharpen the chisel end and harden it some so it would stand up to hard igneous rocks like basalt. For the low price it is recommended.
Good All Around Rock Hound Pick for the money! Oct 18, 2011
By John Mark Pool This is not quite the heavey duty industrial quality of the Estwing Brands, but it is not near the price either. This is a general purpose Rock Hammer to add to my bag. I had to try this pick out to see if the half price was half quality. It is far better than half quality. I recommend for general to light rock pick use. Oh, yes, just go try to find one of these in Home Depot! Rare is the find! Use Amazon for this one for sure!
rockpick Jul 11, 2010
By mrclif We bought this rockpick for our grandson because we were going to Utah where he could look for jasper, quartz, agate and some fossils. He enjoyed using it and found some gypsum too.
Good value! Jul 06, 2009
By R. Hugger Good value for the price! Most places want twice what I paid for this identical hammer. Seems to be of top quality, too.
