Perfect for rockhounding! Jul 19, 2008
By Dormobile Dude

We are real happy with this pick. It is great when we are hiking all over while rockhounding. It is light enough to carry a ways, but heavy enough to make light work of prying rocks out of the ground. The handle is a good length to use as a walking stick, too.
The weight and balance are perfect for the short swings we do while sitting or kneeling.

Best geology tool I own Jan 08, 2012
By C. D. Herter Solid as a "rock", easy to strap to your pack, digs into tough ground; clearly the best tool I've used for rock hunting. I used this to excavate a jasper location near my home. I'd been to this spot earlier in the year and used a pick axe. This smaller tool moved more earth, despite the smaller size, and was fantastic for working areas where delicate material could be damaged by over aggressive digging. I've also use this to pry large rocks out of stream beds; a really versatile piece of equipment. Easily a 5 star. Worth every penny of the higher than expected price. Quality costs. I'll be using this for decades.

It's okay. Not impressed with the way it feels. probably the handle grip could be changed to improve.
